UPrinting Winner & Pumpkin Inspiration

It’s time to announce the winner of the UPrinting postcard giveaway.

The winner is Valerie @ Family of the Vine

She said….

“I would love these for Christmas cards!”

I will be sending your email info to UPrinting.  They should be contacting you soon.

I don’t like to post without any photos so I threw together a collage of a few pumpkins I posted about last year.

I am ready to visit a pumpkin patch this weekend!  I love fall.

PS….if you read my earlier post on the winner I had to find a new winner because UPrinting let me know my original winner had also won a prize from them today at another blog.  Sorry for the confusion.

Sweet Love–Texture Tuesday

Love is this week’s theme over at Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday party.  You can see the love a brother and sister have for their baby cousin in this photo I took recently.  It seems the baby loves them too.

Can’t you just feel the gentleness between them all?  So sweet.

I used Kim’s crackerjack texture on the image.

Fall Display

My sofa table might be my favorite fall display ever.  There isn’t a lot to it, but it goes well with the wall décor that was already there.

I used my mom’s old clay jug and filled it with some dead tree branches which are pretty easy to find after the drought.  I used some clear stick tabs to attach a few faux leaves

20110924-IMG_2692

I added some of the faux leaves to a frame for a punch of fall color and because I like leaves.

A couple more of the painted and glazed pumpkins I used for my mantel were added to this area.  I needed some height so I removed the stem from one of them and topped it with another pumpkin and a few sprigs and placed them on top of a candle stick.

I think it goes well with my blue and green pillows I added to the sofa this summer.

Now to tackle the front porch.  I really should clean my house first though.

Fall Mantel 2011

This year’s mantel is a bit more simple than last years that you can see here.  I wanted to incorporate the blue green colors I have added this year so I painted some inexpensive pumpkins from Walmart.  You can see what the pumpkins looked like before here20110924-IMG_2662

The smaller orange pumpkins came from Hobby Lobby and I glazed them to darken them up a bit so they would coordinate with my wreath colors.

I had some small pumpkins from last year that I painted and added to a wreath.  I pushed toothpicks into the bottom of them so they would stick into the wreath.

I like the simplicity of it all.

I Got Impatient So I Painted Faux Pumpkins

Waiting is not something I do well.  I have been waiting for the bluish green pumpkins to be available so I could decorate with them.  I am sure they will be available tomorrow now that I don’t need them anymore, but that’s ok.  I found some really inexpensive pumpkins late last night at Walmart.  I bought them and figured I would just paint them the color I wanted.

The orange was a bit bright, but the price was right.

20110923-IMG_2652

I used a blue green craft paint and then a reddish brown glaze.

20110923-IMG_2654

In the background is a pumpkin that was painted with the craft paint and the one in front has been glazed.  I sawed off the stems because I wasn’t crazy about the wild looking stem.  I have decorated my mantel and my sofa table.  I will be sharing them soon and I will still buy some real pumpkins for the front porch when the pumpkin patches open. It’s always fun to go to them.

Tomorrow morning my son and I are running the Race For A Cure 5k.  He has never ran a race before and I am so glad he will be joining me.  I also have a giveaway to post about.  So stay tuned for lots of posts coming soon.

Fall Break and Izzy Had Surgery

Our office closes for a couple of days every fall which gives us a 5 day weekend.  I enjoy the extra time at home.  It worked great this time because it was time for Izzy to be spayed and I felt like she had a hernia so I had the vet check during the surgery and sure enough she did and had it repaired at the same time.  She’s doing great, but she is clingy and seems a bit restless at times.  In just a few short months I have fallen head over heels in love with this puppy.  She makes me belly laugh and smile every single day.  Here’s a photo of her recovering on the couch.

I get to go to the movies here in a bit to finally see The Help.

uisind

I read the book this summer and have wanted to see the movie and just haven’t had the chance.  I am still good friends with my high school/college boyfriend’s parents and his mom and I are going to see the show today.  We will then find each other on Saturday at the Race for the Cure after my son and I run and hang out for a bit.  I love that I still have a relationship with a family that meant so much to me when I was young.

I hope you are having a wonderful week.  I better get ready to go.

My Friends Made Some Cute Fall Wreaths

A couple of my friends made some really cute wreaths today.  I thought I would share them with you.  I don’t know the details of how they made them….sorry.  I stole these pics from their facebook page.  Smile

Pumpkins Gone Wild Is At It Again

Last fall I posted about my leopard tissue paper and Mod Podge pumpkins.  They were a hit.  Well Pinterest has made them popular again.  I thought some of my readers that weren’t around last fall might like them too so I am reposting a photo of them and a link to my original post (here).

Old Tray With a Touch of Fall

I added some faux acorns and a brown sunflower that I had from last year to my rustic tray for a bit of fall.  I love the bottles, books and lamps because they allow for me to add anything to them and it all seems to flow.  I love fall more than any other season.  I like decorating for fall better than I do Christmas so my blog will probably have several fall posts coming!

crate1

I recently moved this little table into my family room.  I will be painting it when I decide what I want to do with it.

20110919-IMG_2566

I like my glittered acorns and I really like the color of the sunflower.  I love me some brown.

Now if the pumpkin patches would hurry and open up I could do more fall decorating.

A Touch Of Sun @ I Heart Faces

A touch of sunlight through the window enhances this cute photo I took of my friend’s grandson.  It seemed perfect to enter in this week’s photo contest at I Heart Faces for the Touch of Sun challenge.
